A Lifetime Of Memories
BATTING CAGES! The dream so many years in the making became a reality in Spring 2011 when the SMNLL Batting Cages begin operation! So many thanks are in order from our league for the completion of this wonderful project: Huge thanks to the City of San Mateo for all their help, cooperation and encouragement. As you know, the land that we play on belongs to the City of San Mateo, and their participation in helping us turn this dream into a reality can’t be properly described in a few short words here. Jennifer Shaffer of the Parks & Rec Department was with us from the beginning of this project and not only championed our cause, but shepparded us through the daunting world of planning commissions and presentations, submittals, and permits. For years to come the players in our league will owe a debt of thanks to Jennifer and the entire City of San Mateo. Special thanks to our neighbors in the San Mateo Fire Department for their cooperation during the construction process. None of this would have been possible without the incredible effort by so many our own SMNLL people. The late Mike Davino was the heart behind the batting cage project from the beginning, and we know he is so proud that today his dream has become a reality. Structural FX, owned and operated by our own Brian Smart, built the cages with great effort and sacrifice, under some less than desirable weather conditions, and came in right on (or right ahead) or schedule! In this economy for a company to bring a project of this magnitude in so far under budget is truly remarkable, and Brian Smart and his team did just that. Great job Brian, and thank you.
And lastly, to you, the supporters of the SMNLL, we say thank you, for it is your contributions that turned this dream into a reality. A reality that gives the San Mateo National Little League the same opportunities as every one of our neighboring leagues, and promises to give us the ability to make the SMNLL baseball experience even better for our players.
