Building Community Through Baseball
Fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership in every child
Our Mission
Our mission is to instill teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership in children through the game of baseball. We believe baseball should be affordable and accessible, and we work hard to ensure every child has the chance to learn and play the game.
SMNLL is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 52-1245539) serving families in San Mateo and across the Bay Area since 1955. Registration fees go toward field permits and maintenance, player safety and equipment, financial assistance, umpires, and insurance.
What We Offer
We offer youth baseball for children ages 4–14, from an introductory season in Wiffle Ball or T-Ball through competitive play in our Majors and Juniors divisions.
Some notable athletes got their start in our league, including Tom Brady and Nick Vanos, along with many others who went on to play at the high school and collegiate level.

SMNLL runs both a competitive Spring season from February through June and a development-focused Fall season from August through November. Together, these seasons serve hundreds of local families across all seven of our divisions.

Why SMNLL?
Play Free and Have Fun
We want every child to have fun playing baseball, no matter their skill level or the score. From our youngest Wiffle Ball players to our most competitive Majors and Juniors players, baseball should be fun and lighthearted at every level of competition.
Community On and Off the Field
We are more than a baseball league. Children and parents build friendships that last beyond the season — a spirit that shows up on the field and carries over into team BBQs, potlucks, and pickup Wiffle Ball games after the last out.
Targeted Skill Development
SMNLL is committed to helping every child grow through dedicated skill-building clinics. Coaches receive support to deliver the highest standard of positive coaching for each age group. Our youth and adult umpires receive free training to build leadership, confidence, and in-game decision-making skills.
SMNLL is a 100% volunteer-run league, powered by coaches and families who generously give their time each season. We stay active in the San Mateo community through outreach to local families, schools, and businesses.
